The death penalty cost around an estimated 137 million dollars a year. Some people also believe that it may cause sympathy for the people that commit the terrible crimes. Also the death penalty has been used on minors in other countries some as young as 13 and 14. According to a website there are 70 countries worldwide that allow the death penalty but 94 that don't and some countries have outlawed it for common crimes.
